More than 1,100 undergraduate and 200 graduate students were eligible to graduate from Worcester State University in mid-May. Alumna Sheila Harrity, Ed.D., M.Ed. ’93, the superintendent of Montachusett Regional Vocation Technical School District, offered remarks at graduate commencement on May 15, while Harpoon Brewery co-founder and CEO
Dan Kenary offered words of wisdom at the undergraduate ceremony on May 16. Over the course of the month of May, our concluding academic ceremonies ensured that:
- graduating nursing students were “pinned”
- five honorary degrees were awarded
- two George I. Alden Excellence in Teaching awards were presented, to Daron Barnard, Ph.D., (Biology) and Tona Hangen, Ph.D. (History and Political Science)
- a community service award was bestowed upon Matilde Castiel, M.D.
