Lisa Kramer (Visual and Performing Arts) and Sharon Yang (English) will be giving a reading of their respective novels and a writing workshop at Tatnuck Bookseller in Westborough, Mass., on Saturday, January 28 from 1-3 p.m.
Kramer’s book P.O.W.E.R., which debuted in December 2014, focuses on Andra BetScrivener, whose ability to read and write must remain a secret, or she could lose her hands, her eyes, or her life in a world where access to the written word is reserved to men. When she discovers that she also has the power of writing events into life, the risk becomes greater as she comes to the attention of both the government and a rebel group, who each desire to use her for their own goals. Andra fights to stand up for what is right, but in a society ruled by lies, cruelty, and inequality, her journey will not be easy or safe.
In Yang’s novel, Bait and Switch, Jessica Minton, a young stage actress in 1943 Manhattan, is stalked by fifth columnists and becomes entangled with deceit, espionage, and murder.
