Mary Jo Marion (Academic Affairs/Latino Education Institute) was one of five area women presented with the prestigious Katharine F. Erskine Award by the YWCA of Central Massachusetts during the Tribute to Women luncheon on May 3.
The YWCA annually honors extraordinary women throughout Central Massachusetts who have reached exemplary levels of achievement in their professions and communities.
Marion was recognized in the education category; Elizabeth Bacon, coordinator of the Clemente Course in the Humanities; in the arts and culture category; Christine Cassidy, Fallon Health senior vice president and chief communications officer, in the business and law category; Ginger Navickas, who retired in 2012 as director for domestic violence services at the YWCA of Central Massachusetts, in the community, social service, and government category; and Sara Connor, nurse practitioner and manager of the UMass Memorial Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, in the health, science, and technology category.
