The Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery of Worcester State University opens Fire & Water, a juried exhibition on September 5. Fire & Water will feature artwork from local established and emerging artists that feature either fire or water as a key component in their creation. The exhibition will be juried by artist Tom O’Malley and runs through October 5, 2024.
Jurying artist Tom O’Malley received his BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and an MFA, from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he graduated with honors. His work has appeared in several publications, including Lark Books’ 500 Tiles, The Best of 500 Ceramics – Celebrating a Decade in Clay and Ceramics Monthly. His teaching experiences include The Rhode Island School of Design, Rhode Island College, Becker College, Worcester State University, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has also led the Ceramics Department of the Worcester Center for Crafts since 1994. O’Malley has juried and curated exhibitions for regional and national galleries from Boston to New York.
The opening reception is Thursday, September 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 .
