The Gallery at Worcester State University will feature the work of artists from across New England at the opening of its Inaugural Regional Art Show, “In Between,” Saturday September 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. Fifty-two works by 47 artists were selected from the over 120 artists and 360 submissions. The 2500 square foot gallery is located on the first floor of the Ghosh Science and Technology Building. The opening is free and open to the public.
“The opening for this show is a significant step in the journey of Worcester State,” said President Janelle Ashley. “The development of this gallery space combined with the establishment of our new Visual and Performing Arts major and partnership with the Worcester Center for Crafts, demonstrates our firm commitment to the cultural vibrancy of the region.”
First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and an Honorable Mention awards were selected:
First Place: Tom Grady, Survival Machine (oil on panel)
Second Place: Claire Burke, What Ascends, What Remains (papier mache, paper, pencil, ink, paint, thread)
Third Place: Leslie Schomp, Double Self-Portrait (2 views), (nylon thread, handkerchiefs, embroidery hoops
Honorable Mention: Zehra Khan, Reject Rat , (digital photograph of an installation)
