By the end of the 2012 tax filing season, WSU student volunteers saw over 600 taxpayers, making this the most successful year ever. Thirteen WSU students and four Holy Cross students helped locals of all ages collect over $700,000 in federal refunds.
The Worcester Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition, which includes WSU and three other sites, filed for over $2.5 million in refunds this season. Students will receive official recognition from the IRS for their work, which saves Worcester taxpayers tens of thousands in tax preparation fees each year.
