Worcester State University has a long and proud history of athletic accomplishments, dating back to our founding as Worcester Normal School. Today, Worcester State boasts 21 varsity teams in men’s and women’s athletics and is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. It’s time again to nominate new members to the Athletic Hall of Fame.
Over the decades, women’s athletics have included basketball, field hockey, softball, tennis, and volleyball. The women’s program has since added cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, indoor and outdoor track & field, and, most recently in 2021/22, ice hockey. Early men’s athletics included baseball, basketball, and tennis. The men’s teams today also include cross country, football, golf, ice hockey, soccer, and indoor and outdoor track & field.
The Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1985. Since that time, many of Worcester State’s outstanding athletes have been recognized for their significant contributions to the advancement of athletics at Worcester State, as well as their sportsmanship, leadership and character. Additionally, coaches and others who have contributed to the athletics mission at Worcester State have been recognized. More recently, honorary members who have contributed to athletics in the community and the world at large, may also be recognized.
