Stephanie Chalupka (Nursing) has been named the Katherine F. Erskine Award for Women honoree [1] in the education category. The award is given by the YWCA to recognize women who represent the YWCA mission –eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. She met the criteria of the award, including distinctive achievement and community service in her current profession, service to the community furthering social and racial equality, and a commitment to serve as a role model for women and girls.
Chalupka also has been named by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to a scientific advisory panel to review a draft of the Criteria Document: Health Effects of Occupational Exposure to 1-Bromopropane. The draft document summarizes and analyzes the available literature on this chemical hazard in the workplace. The goal of the NIOSH review process is to enhance the quality and credibility of NIOSH recommendations by ensuring that the scientific work underlying these recommendations receives review by independent scientific experts.
She also is the author of “Beside shift report: Power to the patient!” which appeared in the April issue of Nursing Made Incredibly Easy. Her co-authors are Judymae Ofori-Atta, MSN, BSN, RN, and Maura Binienda, BSN, RN.
