Fall Days of Giving returns to Worcester State

For the second year in a row Fall Days of Giving allows friends of the university to make a difference for Worcester State University students during 1,874 minutes on October 26 and 27. During these two days, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university can support crucial areas and help the Worcester State students continue to thrive, persevere, and achieve their dreams.

The event celebrates both the year of the university’s founding (1874) and the date on which Worcester State College became Worcester State University (October 26, 2010). Donations support areas like the Resilience and Retention Fund, which helps students pay their tuition bill; the Experiential Learning Fund, which provides a stipend to students who are participating in an unpaid practicum or internship; the Student Emergency Fund, which helps students with unforeseen personal expenses that may prohibit them from attending college; or the Worcester State Fund, which provides much needed unrestricted support to the university.

“We are doing our part to show our appreciation for the hard work that was done by our founders back in 1874 to create the Worcester Normal School, and all those who have continued the mission in advancing us to the Worcester State University of today,” said Jodi Briggs-Pickett, executive director of development. “Together, we are making the dream of higher education a reality for our Lancers and making a difference in our future. The Fall Days of Giving are a perfect time to show your love and support of WSU—an opportunity for alumni to pay it forward so a current student will have the same, if not a better, experience, or for a friend to join Worcester State in making an impact on the greater community. Regardless of the motivation, donors are making an investment in the lives and success of our students. It’s truly amazing to see the impact of 1,874 minutes!

Two of our generous alumni, Kevin & Kathy Campbell from the class of 1973, issued an official Fall Days of Giving Challenge by offering a donation match up to $10,000!” said Briggs-Pickett. They will match ALL gifts $1 for $1 with an added bonus match of $2 for every $1 for recent Worcester State graduates from the classes of 2007-2022. Your gift could have double or TRIPLE the impact this year!

Last year, donors gave more than $53,000. This exceeded a generous $40,000 match.
