The Fresh Check Day Uplifter Award was presented to Manuel Reyes-Ponce and the Third World Alliance on Tuesday, Feb. 11. This award is given to an individual or group that made important contributions to the success of Fresh Check Day (FCD) at their institution. Reyes-Ponce was selected by Worcester State Fresh Check Day organizers Laura Murphy, associate dean for health and wellness, and counselors Julie Glovin, and Talita Rodovalho.
“Manny is an inspirational student leader who has volunteered at all three FCD events. This year Manny took on a leadership role by organizing our early morning ‘set up crew’ of student volunteers. Additionally, Manny was flexible and assisted wherever he was needed. Being a well-known student leader and positive role model, Manny’s presence encouraged others to participate and helped make FCD a success,” Murphy said in the nomination application.
