Gallery seeks artists’ entries for juried fiber art exhibition

Worcester State University’s Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery has announced an open call for artists to submit entries for Interconnected:  A Fiber Show, a juried exhibition that is scheduled to open on February 2, 2023 and run through March 18, 2023. The gallery will accept submissions from emerging and established artists alike through 5 p.m. on January 1, 2023.

“As we enter into these colder months and appreciate fiber in functional, traditional ways, we also look forward to exploring the intriguing and artistic side of thread-like structures through various media and styles,” said Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery Director and Art Professor Stacey Parker. “We can’t wait to experience fiber in new ways through work by regional artists who put their own spin on it and showcase it for our community to enjoy.”

As part of the open call, the Gallery will accept submissions through emailing Gallery@worcester.edu [1]. Original work made within the last five years will be considered, and artists are invited to submit up to three works of art. Additional submission details and specifications are available here [2]. Email notifications of acceptance will be made on January 6, 2023, and artists will deliver accepted work to the gallery on January 20 and 21, 2023, Parker said.

Worcester State Visual and Performing Arts Department’s (VPA) Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery offers five main exhibits interspersed with shorter term events throughout the year. The gallery invites artists in all stages of their careers along with our faculty and students to exhibit works that explore the established, edgy, and innovative ideas in the artistic world. The gallery’s mission is to contribute to the cultural offerings of the region by exhibiting work of vitality and interest in the contemporary art world. Today’s open call announcement comes on the heels of VPA’s offering of a new Art Major, a 45-credit program of study combining hands-on studio work with art history and theory courses.
