More than 200 alumni and friends of the University came out for the Worcester State Foundation Golf Tournament June 6 and raised a record $127,000 for student scholarships. The annual day-long event took place at two locations: Wachusett Country Club and Kettle Brook Country Club.
“We could not have asked for a better day in terms of sunshine, good spirits and great golf for an incredible cause,” said Jodi Briggs-Pickett, the executive director of development in University Advancement, which coordinates the event. “These dollars will go a long way to helping many hardworking students at Worcester State.”
President Barry Maloney, who played 18 holes at Wachusett, emphasized the importance of scholarships for Worcester State students.
“Our students come from Massachusetts and a lot of them are first-generation students in their families,” he said during the luncheon following the tournament. “These dollars provide a hand up in the form of scholarships.”
Over the past 25 years, the Foundation’s Golf Tournament has raised $1.5 million for the University. Mark your calendars to join the 30th Annual Worcester State Foundation Golf Tournament next year on June 5, 2023.
