Close to 100 alumni, friends, faculty, and staff gathered at WSU President Barry Maloney’s home on June 15 to celebrate the newly established Loyal Lancers Society. With nearly 600 members, the donor recognition society honors donors who have made consistent, annual gifts in any amount for at least the last five consecutive fiscal years (July 1 through June 30).
President Maloney, who is also a Loyal Lancer, welcomed everyone to his home. “My wife Laura and I are also proud members of the Loyal Lancers society and committed to giving back to the university financially when we first arrived at Worcester State 11 years ago,” he said. “We understand the importance of demonstrating to our students our firm belief in their success, and we make a point of donating consistently to support that success just like all of you here tonight…”
Vice President for University Advancement Thomas McNamara ’94 introduced two students, Hailey Baldwin ’22 and Ian Njihia ‘24 who shared their gratitude to all those who consistently provide private funding for scholarships, academic achievement awards, and a wide variety of programming support throughout campus.
“Worcester State University has offered me opportunities I never thought I would have had, the community has believed in me, they have supported me and embraced me and that includes you, Loyal Lancers,” said Njiha. “Being where I am today would not have been possible without having support from our trusted and loyal donors. I have had the honor of being sponsored or supported by a variety of donors and I am nothing but grateful…”
