Julie Frechette (Communication) has published an article, “Tip of the Day: The Unfair and Imbalanced Culture of Sexual Harassment at Fox News [1]“, for the website Project Censored: The News That Didn’t Make the News. In the article, Frechette examines the recent ouster of Bill O’Reilly and the sexual harassment lawsuits filed against Fox News. By analyzing the pervasive culture of sexism at the conservative news program, Frechette reveals the double binds women face in the workplace, particularly corporate news media.
“The most telling lesson to be gleaned from O’Reilly’s undoing is that, like most social change, a unified effort is needed to shift the tide of sexual harassment at work and in the culture at large,” writes Frechette. “The same collective pressure needs to be applied to all corporate news and media organizations.”
