Nursing Students Make Masks for Community Service Project

Six students in the Student Nurse Association recently made masks as a community service project, donating them to those in need. Each crafty student created 10 masks, packaging them with instructions on proper use and fit.

Co-advisor Danielle Shaver, R.N., M.S., instructor in the Dr. Lillian R. Goodman Department of Nursing, says the students were looking for a way to give back to the community and the project was suggested by fellow instructor Janna Trombley, R.N., M.S. ’16, Ph.D. Nursing faculty and others have been helping to distribute the cloth masks to those not required to wear medically approved personal protective equipment.

Participating students were: Madison Sullender ’23, Stela Fandakova ’23, Nina Beauvais ’22, Sophia Kontoes ’21, Michaella Vecchiarelli ’21, and coordinator Stephen Healy ’21, vice president of the Student Nursing Association.
