Learning Resource Center Building Remains Closed

Worcester State University Police announced this morning that the Massachusetts State Police has completed a thorough search of the Learning Resource Center, which houses the Library, classrooms, and faculty and administrative offices, in response to a bomb threat.  As a precautionary measure, the LRC will remain closed today, Tuesday, November 23 because the situation is still under investigation.

The LRC is expected to reopen tomorrow, Wednesday, November 24. All day and evening classes scheduled in the LRC for Tuesday, November 23 have been cancelled.  All classes located outside of the LRC are being held as scheduled.

All non-essential employees who work in the LRC were instructed not to report to work today.  Essential employees who work in the LRC reported to the Administration Building for their assignments.

A student discovered a bomb threat message in an LRC restroom last evening.  The student reported the discovery to the LRC circulation desk, who reported it to university police.  University police completed a sweep of the building and found nothing overtly suspicious, but, as a precaution, contacted the Massachusetts State Police, who were on campus Tuesday to go through the LRC.

Students and staff were first notified of the closure via the university website, email and text message at approximately 2:30 a.m.

Please note the campus power outage that has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 24,  will continue as planned and is not related to the situation described above.
