Stacey Luster (Human Resources, Payroll, and Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity) was a panelist at an April event aimed at teaching women how to run a successful campaign and exploring ways to support another woman’s run for office.
The forum featured women who had already successfully run for office, and, according to a flyer about the event, they discussed “what it takes to launch a campaign.”
The other panelists were state Representatives Natalie Higgins and Kate Campanale, and Worcester City Councilor Sarai Rivera. It was moderated by President of Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition Celia J. Blue and was sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Worcester Area.
Luster was the first African American to serve on the Worcester City Council in over six decades in 1997. Two years later, she was re-elected, but was unable to finish the term because she accepted the position as head of human resources for Worcester Public Schools in 2000. In 2015, she began working at Worcester State University in her current position. Luster received her law degree from Boston University School of Law.
