Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery Seeks Artists for Online Exhibition ‘2020’

Worcester State University’s Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery has announced a call to artists for “2020,” an online juried exhibition. Submission deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 11, for the show, which will run March 4, 2021, through April 4, 2021. The gallery will accept submissions from emerging and established artists working in any 2D/3D media and video.

“We’re looking for artwork that responds to issues prevalent in this period of time, the year 2020, which continues to be defined by uncertainty, upheaval, and chaos,” says exhibition juror and Visual and Performing Arts Professor Stacey Parker, M.F.A., a Worcester-based artist who has shown her work in exhibits throughout New England.

Parker noted that the COVID-19 pandemic, politics, mental health issues, financial disparities, death, grieving, and social flashpoints that have prompted movements like Black Lives Matter are just a few of the many topics that artists may choose to explore. As part of the open call, the gallery will accept digital submissions of up to three works. Interested artists may visit the gallery website at https://wsuvpagallery.weebly.com/ [1] to view full specification requirements and entry details and contact gallery@worcester.edu or sparker1@worcester.edu with any questions. Accepted artists will be notified by Feb. 15, 2021.

“While the year 2020 has been marked by a roller coaster of issues, we look forward to facilitating this positive process of responding to, processing and interpreting relevant issues through art, and then making artists’ powerful pieces accessible to our audiences and our community,” Parker says.

The Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery is committed to supporting and promoting diversity and inclusion as well as making the arts accessible remotely during the pandemic.
