Morreale Participates in Middle Eastern Partnership Initiative at RWU

Stephen A. Morreale (Criminal Justice) recently facilitated several sessions with a group of Middle Eastern graduate students at Roger Williams University (RWU).

RWU is one of ten American universities sponsoring the Middle Eastern Partnership Initiative (MEPI).  The U.S. State Department selects 150 graduate students to come to the U.S. for six weeks and work on an important project seeking social change in their country. The RWU MEPI class of 2015 was made up of 15 students from Iraq, Palestine, West Bank, Israel, Bahrain, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.  The projects included improving educational opportunities for orphans in Iraq, reducing sexual assault of young girls, and assisting refugees from domestic violence.

Dr. Morreale served as a facilitator for sessions on leadership, strategic planning, and project management to help develop the projects.  Students were involved in trips to Washington, Providence, Boston, New York and Seattle, where they met with staff of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
