Worcester State University President Barry Maloney announced today that every member of the university’s Nursing Class of 2012 passed the National Council Licensure Examination. Nursing graduates must pass the exam, governed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, to be eligible to practice as a registered nurse.
Stephanie Chalupka, Ed.D., Associate Dean for Nursing in the Dr. Lillian R. Goodman Department of Nursing, said, “Passing the NCLEX is an important professional milestone for our students. Our students worked very hard to prepare for the exam, and we are extremely proud of their success.”
“With the support of President Maloney we were able to make some changes within the department that really benefitted our students” said Chalupka. “We’re pleased that our strategies have paid off. Our students will be wonderful nurses.”
Worcester State’s nursing program is now ranked number one in the state, along with other programs that achieved a 100 percent pass rate. WSU is the only baccalaureate nursing program in the state to achieve a 100 percent pass rate last year.
