Since July 1, 2014, Worcester State University has received over $300,000 in grant awards from various foundations and government agencies including the Department of Higher Education, the Fairlawn Foundation and the Irene and George Davis Foundation.
Among the recipients were:
- Chairperson of the Education Department Carol Donnelly, who received additional funds for the “Improving Teacher Quality” program, which uses science to strengthen and align early childhood teaching;
- Associate Dean, School of Education, Health and Natural Sciences Raynold Lewis for a grant related to the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness in College and Careers, a new assessment test used by the public schools of Worcester;
- Assistant Vice President for Assessment and Planning Carol Lerch, Assistant Dean/Director of Multicultural Affairs Marcela Uribe-Jennings, and Director of Retention Angela Quitadamo for a Vision grant from the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education;
- Enrollment Management Vice President Ryan Forsythe for a dual enrollment grant; Dean of Education, Health and Natural Sciences Linda Larrivee for “CHIPS in Action,” a Worcester State project with the City of Worcester, in which faculty and students work with city agencies on programmatic and research activities.
