Hemant Pendharkar (Computer Science) has again been appointed as a senior summer faculty fellow at the Office of Naval Research. This marks the third year in a row that he has been invited to serve in the position. Only four other faculty have been invited nationwide for this year’s fellowships, he said.
Senior summer faculty fellows for the ONR must have at least six years of research experience in his or her field of expertise after earning a Ph.D. and hold the position of tenured associate professor or higher at a U.S. Department of Education-accredited institution. The applicant must also have published a minimum of one paper per year since their Ph.D. in a peer-reviewed journal.
Pendharkar is continuing his research collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense and has had papers published that he co-authored with colleagues at SPAWAR (Space and Naval Warfare) System Center Atlantic. He expects to continue working on projects related to math and computer science applications aimed at the strengthening of cryptographic protocols.
