Power Presents on Intergenerational Education at Boston Conference

Maureen Power (Urban Studies and Intergenerational Urban Institute) was an invited speaker at the World Health Day 2012 conference “Population Aging and Urbanization…A Meeting of the Minds.” It was held at Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, Boston.

The program featured the executive director of the World Health Organization, professors from Harvard, Tufts, the London School of Health and Tropical Medicine, and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs.

While other speakers focused on the biological aspects of aging, Power’s presentation, “Educated Engaged Energized: Elders Creating Secure Communities,” focused on the social aspects. It highlighted WSU’s age-integrated campus and identified how elders are connected with younger students to create change in community.

She also has been invited to present to the staff at the Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
