Carolyn J. Wilcomb ’12 and Jennifer M. Gardner ’12 (Psychology) presented their research collaborations with Champika K. Soysa (Psychology) at the Eastern Psychological Association conference as well as our premier national conferences — the Association for Psychological Science (APS) and the American Psychological Association. This was a rare opportunity for undergraduate researchers in the discipline, because most presenters are faculty or graduate students.
Wilcomb and Gardner began their series of conference presentations at the statewide undergraduate conference at UMass-Amhherst, where each of them presented a paper on a symposium panel.
Wilcomb studied mindfulness, self-compassion, and self-efficacy, as predictors of depression, anxiety, stress, and well-being. Gardner studied technology use, popularity, and self-esteem, as predictors of stress and well-being.
Victoria Reiszner ’12 and Erin Borglund ’12 (Psychology) were independent study research students who were co-authors on the poster presentations.
All four students were supported by University Advancement to travel to Chicago to present their research.
Additional presentations by Psychology faculty and students include:
