Study Shows Over 3,300 WSU Students Voted in 2012 Presidential Election

WSU participated in the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) conducted by CIRCLE at the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service. Since NSLVE’s launch in January 2013, more than 260 campuses signed up to receive their student voting rates for 2012, providing CIRCLE with a solid foundation for growth and for national research on college and university student voting. Here are the recently released results for WSU from the 2012 elections:

Total student enrollment: 6422

Ineligible to vote because too young: 18

Number of students who registered: 4668

Number of students who voted:  3,344

The voting rate below reflects the proportion of our eligible students (US citizens age 18 and older) who actually voted in the 2012 federal election.

Registration rate: 73.5%

Voting rate: 52.7%

Rate of registered voters who voted: 71.6%
