Treseler and Students Focus Attention on Worcester Poet Elizabeth Bishop

Heather Treseler (English) has a review essay, “A Poet in Place,” in the current edition [1] of the Weekly Standard.

Treseler also chaired the Elizabeth Bishop Society’s panel at the American Literature Association in late May and will present a paper, “‘Private Faces in Public Places’: Bishop’s Triptych of Washington, D.C.” at the Elizabeth Bishop: Questions of Travel (1965) Centenary Conference at the University of Sheffield in England on June 25.

She is currently working with Honors students Kayleigh Berger and Kasey Wozniak on a Summer Undergraduate Research Grant, “Elizabeth Bishop: from Archive to Archetype,” assessing the Worcester-born poet’s new archival materials, writing about their import to our understanding of the poet’s career, and designing related curricula for high school and college students of poetry.
