Wilcox-Titus’ Photographs on Display in Double Exposure Exhibit

Photographs by Catherine Wilcox-Titus (Visual and Performing Arts) and photomontages by Peter Wise will be on display at the exhibit Double Exposure, Franklin Square Gallery at the Hanover Theatre from March 20 to June 24. An opening reception will take place on Wednesday, March 20 from 6-8 p.m.

The conceptual framework of this show forms a response to 20th century cinema. Photographs by Wilcox-Titus reflect the urban landscape as sites for potential drama and storytelling. Store windows and mannequins are caught in “freeze” frames, about to speak or act out their dramatic roles.

Photomontages by Wise use the language of jump cuts and montage to suggest intriguing alternative  narratives.

All the images in this show are inspired by the formal language that structure the movies as well as the content.
