Worcester State Foundation Starts Student Research Grant Fund

The Worcester State Foundation [1] has established the Student Research Grant Fund to provide up to $10,000 annually to support undergraduate student research, scholarship and creative activity.

“I am proud of the board’s leadership and support, not only of this fund, but of the many student scholarships, campus improvements and meeting the many needs of our hardworking students and faculty,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Tom McNamara.

“Worcester State University is known for the incredible research and scholarship opportunities our faculty share with our students,” said McNamara. “The Foundation Board’s decision to establish this fund is just one more example in the long history of the board’s support of research.”

In addition to establishing this fund, the Foundation has supported more than 350 WSU Faculty Mini-Grants [2] since the grants were established in 1999. Both programs are joint efforts of the offices of Institutional Advancement and Academic Affairs to promote scholarly and creative pursuits.

“These research opportunities offer extraordinary opportunities for our students to learn real-world skills that often translate into careers or graduate school opportunities,” said McNamara.

Any matriculated full-time or part-time undergraduate Worcester State University student is eligible to apply for the funds.  Interested students can obtain a grant application from the Institutional Advancement Office, Academic Affairs or their academic department.
