Worcester State Leadership Symposium will focus on leader wellness

Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community leaders will gather on April 1 for the third annual Leadership Symposium, Worcester State’s signature event for student leadership development.

The theme for this year is leader wellness, and sessions will provide tips, frameworks and guidance on how to develop mental, physical and emotional wellness for effective leadership.

“The Leadership Symposium provides attendees with an opportunity to build their own leadership curriculum and focus on building the skills they need,” said Sarah Potrikus, assistant director of the Office of Student Involvement. “We look forward to welcoming students back to an in-person program this year!”

Higher education professional, writer, and editor Amma Marfo will deliver the opening keynote, “Designing your wellness led life.” Community leader Dr. Satya Mitra, President and CEO of “The Guru Tax & Financial Services, Inc.” in Worcester, MA, will deliver the closing remarks.

Hosted by the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership Development, the Leadership Symposium brings together a diverse cross-section of the broader university community for workshops, mentoring, and networking. Three workshop blocks will include sessions on mindfulness, meditation and yoga; motivation, using the Enneagram to develop your leadership style, spirituality and wellness, peer mentoring and more.

Students have the opportunity to learn from faculty, staff, alumni and Worcester community leaders about personal leadership skills and abilities and how to think critically about real world problems. The Symposium also uniquely gives students the opportunity to network with career professionals.

The event will be held from 12:30- 5 p.m. in the Student Center and is open to students from Worcester State and area universities. Registration is now open for students, faculty, alumni, staff, and community members.
