Worcester State Receives EVERFI Award for Commitment to Campus Safety

In early October, Worcester State was awarded the inaugural EVERFI Campus Prevention Network (CPN) partner award, the highest honor bestowed upon a higher education institution by the computer-based, online learning organization. Worcester State’s award was based upon its demonstrated commitment to campus safety, well-being and inclusion.

According to EVERFI’s website, the CPN Seal represents the highest standard for online prevention education, which includes a rigorous set of criteria to make a measurable impact across the critical health and safety areas of sexual assault, alcohol and drug misuse, mental health, and diversity and inclusion. If unaddressed, these challenges erode the community’s fabric and impede academic success. Teaching critical life skills in tandem with academic preparation prepares students to succeed both now and in the future.

Worcester State currently has close to 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students taking one or more of 17 different courses.

“Issues of student safety and well-being impact all facets of the student experience, which makes prevention efforts like EVERFI imperative to student success,” says Jennifer Quinn, director of Title IX and alcohol & drug prevention education. “Not only do these courses have a positive impact on the individual, but they also have a positive effect on the WSU community.”

Worcester State has been a partner with the EVERFI online learning program from more than 10 years, and this year added other component courses to provide more support to students during the global pandemic.
