Worcester State University is now enrolling students for the fall 2014 semester into a new concentration in marketing within its Master of Science in Management program.

Offered through the University’s Division of Continuing Studies and Graduate Education, this concentration will help fill the workforce need for more analytically trained marketing professionals and consultants.

The new concentration is targeted to those who wish to pursue a deeply focused graduate course of study within the management program, offering rigorous course work so that students may develop their conceptual and technical expertise—a skill set now sought by many industries, consulting firms and emerging multinational organizations.

According to Dr. Rodney Oudan, professor of marketing and program coordinator for the gradate program in management, the new concentration in marketing provides a strong foundation for management students.

“The new program emphasizes proficiency in quantitative skills, such as databases and market research, as well as qualitative skills, such as consumer behavior,” says Dr. Oudan.

Students gain the theoretical knowledge, the analytical skills, and the most effective methodologies required to become an analyst, specialist, researcher or manager who is able to develop strategic marketing plans and  marketing campaigns, to grow market share, and to increase an organization’s performance in today’s marketplace.

“Marketing management” is experiencing tremendous change due in large part to the growth of behavioral targeting, technology, globalization and other environmental factors. Companies now have access to an abundance of data and can use predictive analysis for marketing planning.

Worcester State University’s new concentration features evening classes. According to Dr. Oudan, the program is especially suitable for students working full-time or part-time jobs. A minimum 36 semester credit hours of coursework is required, and the program can be completed in 15 to 18 months.
