Worcester State University will host the installation, “Sweetheart of All My Dreams,” by Tim Winn and Zehra Khan in the Gallery in the Ghosh Science and Technology Building Saturday, December 4 through Saturday, December 11 from 1-4 p.m.  An opening reception for the installation will be held Friday Dec. 3, from  6:00 to 8:00 pm.

“I draw rats as analogue for our human relationships,” said Khan. “In the vulnerable experience of finding love and companionship, many rely on alcohol as their catalyst, become nervous smokers, or wallow in alternating bouts of indulgence, bliss and bitterness.”

Sweetheart of All My Dreams, a collaboration between Khan and Tim Winn, explores notions of home, domestic bliss and its potential destruction – through outside forces or from within. The installation plays with two-dimensional drawings, crafted into three-dimensional scenarios. By changing the scale, proportions and the viewer’s perspective within the space, these low-fi illusions tell a story of lives lived in a paper house.  “In this hand-drawn world, we skirt falling into an abyss of delight, sometimes dangerous, sometimes just dangerously delightful,” said Khan.

In addition to the installation,  Khan and Winn will give a talk about their work, Thursday December 2, at 4:30 p.m. in the LRC (Library) in room 121.

As a fundraiser for the gallery, at the Opening Reception, we are inviting anyone to get their picture taken inside the installation as an inhabitant of the rat world. Cost is $5 for an electronic image.
