On Friday, December 5, the Worcester State University Jimmy Fund Council traveled to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute for a tour, the presentation of a check, and a day in the city of Boston.
Since the council’s inception at WSU in 2011, students have raised $2,414, every dollar of which goes to cancer research. In addition, for the past three years, students from the nursing, biology, and communication departments have worked at the Boston Marathon as runner’s guides.
Friday’s tour featured a look at the clinical and research practices and a talk by Susanne Conley, MSN, RN, CPON. Her life story, combined with her experience at Dana Farber, was both compassionate and of professional interest.
