It was a day of smiles and candy at Colony Retirement Home III in Worcester recently as the Worcester State women’s lacrosse team delivered Valentine’s goodie bags and handmade cards for the residents. The students rotated tables, talking with the residents and sharing stories, learning about lacrosse, hobbies and grandchildren.
At the end, the residents all shared a piece of advice.
“They varied from, ‘Live each day on the day,’ and ‘Don’t take anything for granted,’ ” said Head Coach Kelly Downs, Coordinator of Student-Athlete Support Services. “One woman spoke about Title IX and how she grew up in Scotland and couldn’t play sports so she shared that with the team to make sure they are grateful for being in this country. Overall, it was a great event!”
