More than $54,000 was raised for student athletic teams and organizations during the fifth annual Chandlers Challenge. In the top spots were the field hockey team in the athletic bracket and the Criminal Justice Club in the campus bracket.
Thirty-three student groups participated in the Feb. 6-7 competition that drew more than 1,200 donors. The athletic bracket earned $31,350.00 in donations, and the campus bracket earned $23,393.00. All of the dollars raised go directly to the student organizations to support travel, equipment and special projects.

This year featured a number of matching gifts and sponsored prizes:
- The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association: Gifts to NSSLHA were matched dollar-for-dollar by School of Science Technology and Health Dean Linda Larrivee ’76 and her husband Alan Larrivee ’75, up to $2000.
- Office of Multicultural Affairs: Gifts to OMA were matched dollar-for-dollar by Sidney Buxton, Jr., up to $50,000
- Thea’s Pantry – Gifts to Thea’s Pantry were matched dollar-for-dollar by Dr. Lisa Wark and her husband Stephen, up to $500
- The Power Hour 2 Prize of $250 for each bracket was donated by Tom Cieszynski ’07
- The Campus Bracket Alumni Prize of $500 was donated by Beth Sannella ’69
