Worcester State University will celebrate Homecoming and Family weekend Oct. 27-28 with a variety of events, including a celebration of the university’s distinguished alumni, multicultural programming, and games.
The weekend starts on Friday, Oct. 27 with the Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony. Five alumni will be honored for achievements in areas including volunteer service in the community, education, and professional achievement. The event includes dinner and cocktails starting at 6 p.m. and costs $30 per person. Register online.
Family Day starts at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 for parents, siblings and grandparents of Worcester State students with brunch at the Sheehan Dining Hall (pre-registration required). Starting at 11 a.m., families are invited to have some fall fun in the Student Center at the Family Fun Fair, featuring vendors, giveaways, food, and activities. Enjoy donuts and hot cider while painting a pumpkin in the Student Center Food Court, playing a board game in the living room, or making fall crafts in the exhibition area while supplies last. Family bingo begins at 11:30 a.m. and family trivia at 1 p.m. offering a chance to win prizes. Throughout the day, families can interact with baby farm animals and play yard games on Wasylean Patio.
From 1 to 3 p.m., on Lot L, the Homecoming Experience for Worcester State Alumni and their families offers DonutNV and TrolleyDogs food trucks, Student and Alumni Association tables, a moon bounce, caricaturist, bar, and water station.
Lancer fans can see Worcester State’s women’s field hockey team play Salem State at noon and Worcester State’s football team play Western Connecticut at 3 p.m. on Coughlin Field.
On October 28, the Office of Multicultural Affairs will host a multicultural tent, open to everyone, with barbecue and Liberian food vendors, lawn games, and music from 1 to 3 p.m. At 5 p.m., there will be an ALANA/BIPOC reception hosted by President Barry M. Maloney and the Multicultural Affairs Alumni Association welcoming and celebrating our alumni. This event will feature appetizers, dancing, karaoke, and DJ Ellis Cropper.
