Worcester State University will take over Polar Park on Friday, Sept. 18, for an evening celebrating alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and the University’s growing connections across the Central Massachusetts community. Anyone with a Worcester State ID will receive one $5 ticket to attend the game.
The Worcester State community will gather at the home of the Worcester Red Sox for two events during the team’s game that evening. The events will provide opportunities for alumni and friends of the University to connect, celebrate the start of a new academic year, and recognize the many individuals who support Worcester State through their time, talent, and philanthropy.
The evening will begin with an alumni reception at WooSox Farms from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by the WooSox game, where guests will enjoy the action from two private suites on the upper deck of the park — one for alumni and one for Worcester State employee donors. The WooSox will face the Durham Bulls at 6:05 p.m., with Tom McNamara ’94, Worcester State’s vice president of advancement, throwing the first pitch. As a student, Tom played on both the men’s baseball and basketball teams.
The event comes as Worcester State continues to strengthen its partnership with the Worcester Red Sox and build relationships with organizations throughout the region. The University has also developed partnerships with community institutions including The Hanover Theatre, Museum of Worcester and Worcester Art Museum as part of its commitment to serving as an engine of experiential learning in Central Massachusetts.
Worcester State Night at Polar Park is one of several alumni and donor events planned throughout the academic year. The University will continue celebrating its alumni and supporters during Homecoming Weekend September 25 and 26, including the Hall of Fame Award Dinner.
