The Alumni Association’s Advisory Board is welcoming six new members and a new executive board this summer. During their two three-year terms, advisory board members represent the more than 40,000 graduates of Worcester State, serving as a liaison between alumni and the offices, departments, and officers of the University community.
The new board members include:
Sonela Demirazi ’15, MS ’17, MEd ’19 is an administrative assistant in the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education at Worcester State and union steward for AFSCME Local 1067.
Meaghan Dougherty ’19 is an actuarial analyst with Sun Life and a member of the Worcester State Young Alumni Association where she has provided mentorship and resources to prospective actuarial students at worcester State. During her time at Worcester State, she was part of the Honors Program, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society and Student Government Association.
Taneisha Mings ’13, MEd, is a NextGen Careers Counselor for the Mass Rehabilitation Commision with experience in social justice advocacy and organizing. She is a compassionate advocate for reproductive freedom, aging adults, and people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Jillian Russo ’16, MEd, is a teacher at Wachusett Regional High School where she serves as the junior class advisor and advisor for the Teachers of Tomorrow organization. She coaches both soccer and softball at Leicester High School and has been a member of the Worcester Fuel Pro Am soccer organization.
Debra Tambeau ’74 has worked for the past 25 years with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families recruiting and training foster and adoptive parents. She is also a volunteer of the UMMMC Psych Patient Family Advisory Committee, which supports mental health services for adults and children. She was an active student-athlete during her time at Worcester State and was inducted in the 2009 Athletic Hall of Fame.
Marilyn Willand ’69 has been a teacher, assistant principal and principal in the Worcester area. She has served on an alumni reunion committee and participated in the fall 2022 golf tournament.

Incoming President Andrew Ngo ’17, is a product manager for digital services at Humana, and is starting his sixth year of service on the alumni board.
