Worcester State University’s Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery has announced an open call for artists to submit entries for “Sculptural Elements,” a juried exhibition that is scheduled to open on June 8, 2023 and run through July 8, 2023. The Gallery will accept submissions for consideration from emerging and established artists alike through 5 p.m. on May 6, 2023.

“Our new call for art is an opportunity for regional artists to consider the possibilities that come from working in three dimensions,” said Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery Director and Art Professor Stacey Parker. “We look forward to experiencing sculpture in new ways as artists explore traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques that our community is sure to enjoy.”

As part of the open call, the Gallery will accept submissions through emailing Gallery@worcester.edu. Original work made within the last five years will be considered, and artists are invited to submit up to three works of art. Additional submission details and specifications are available at https://wsuvpagallery.weebly.com. Email notifications of acceptance will be made on May 12, 2023, and artists will deliver accepted work to the gallery on May 27 and 28, 2023, Parker said.

Worcester State Visual and Performing Arts Department’s (VPA) Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery offers five main exhibits interspersed with shorter term events throughout the year. The gallery invites artists in all stages of their careers along with our faculty and students to exhibit works that explore the established, edgy, and innovative ideas in the artistic world. The gallery’s mission is to contribute to the cultural offerings of the region by exhibiting work of vitality and interest in the contemporary art world. Today’s open call announcement comes on the heels of VPA’s offering of a new Art Major, a 45-credit program of study combining hands-on studio work with art history and theory courses.
