More than 200 alumni and friends of the university came out for the Worcester State Foundation Golf Tournament June 5 and raised a record $131,000 for student scholarships. The annual day-long event took place at two locations: Wachusett Country Club and Kettle Brook Country Club.

“I am so impressed with the Lancer spirit shown by the participants,” said Vice President for University Advancement Tom McNamara. “Year after year, our alumni and friends come out to support our hardworking students. These dollars will make a huge difference in the lives of Worcester State students.”

This year, the tournament had more than 60 sponsors and more than 50 auction donors. Since its inception, the Foundation’s Golf Tournament has raised more than $1.5 million for the university. Mark your calendars to join the George H. Albro ’65 Memorial Golf Tournament on August 7, 2023.

Rich Korzec, who served as Worcester State’s project manager and associate director of facilities and coach of golf team, participated in this tournament for many years. Upon his passing in 2012, the tournament trophy was renamed to honor his legacy and the impact he had on the Worcester State community. This year’s winners with Korzec family members, from left: Peter Staiti ’02, Mark Gurski ’02, Rich’s wife and daughter Ann and Kristina Korzec, Mike Jezierski ’18, and Edward Dumphy ’00
