Get ready to unleash your Lancer Pride at Worcester State’s 2024 Homecoming & Family Weekend Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28, when the university will kick off its 150th anniversary celebration with a carnival, food trucks and signature events for students, parents, and alumni.
The weekend of family-friendly festivities will launch Worcester State’s sesquicentennial celebration, “Our Place. Our Purpose.” To celebrate the anniversary the university will have a free, two-day 150th Celebration Carnival, featuring an Expo Wheel, Super Slider and Tornado, among the rides, as well as games. The Carnival opens on Friday from noon to 5 p.m. for Worcester State students, faculty and staff only. A university ID will be required to enter on Friday and no guests are allowed.
On Homecoming and Family Day Saturday, Sept 28, the carnival opens to alumni and student families, as well as students, faculty and staff, from 11:30 to 4:30. Alongside the carnival will be food trucks, activities for children and a multicultural experience tent.
Registration is required for Family Day and for Homecoming.
Athletics and the Alumni Association will mark two special events during the weekend. On Friday evening, the university will honor five former student athletes, former basketball coach Tom Moore, and the 1972 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Team at the Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony. On Saturday at 1 p.m., members of Worcester State’s first sports teams will gather in the Wellness Center for a special “First Teams” event.
The weekend will be filled with opportunities to cheer on Lancer athletes, with women’s field hockey playing on Friday at 7, men’s soccer at 11 a.m. on Saturday and the Homecoming football game vs. Westfield State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
On Saturday evening, President Barry Maloney will host a reception for ALANA/BIPOC Alumni and the Young Alumni Homecoming After Party will happen at Gambrino’s Cask & Barrel. Registration is required for these alumni events.
