Moody’s Investors Service has affirmed Worcester State College’s A3 long term rating. In a report dated October 29, 2009, the service said, “the outlook for the rating is stable.
“The report attributed the rating to, “strong management of operations and budget flexibility demonstrated by consistently positive operating performance.”
“Although the college, the region, the Commonwealth and the nation are facing extraordinary fiscal challenges,” said WSC President Janelle Ashley, “We are proud that our sound fiscal management has positioned us well as we face our future.”
Although the report acknowledged the, “considerable fiscal challenges at the Commonwealth,” it also gave WSC a, “stable outlook.”
“Moody’s expectations (are) that the college will continue to demonstrate flexibility in budgeting to produce at least balanced operating results during current and future state appropriation reductions as well as maintain the current healthy market position.”
