On April 21, Danielle Paige (English major) represented Worcester State University at the 11th Annual Undergraduate Shakespeare Conference at Assumption College, “Shakespeare Recycled.”

In the session “Re-Reeling Shakespeare,” Paige presented and successfully fielded questions on “Shakespeare on the Waterfront,” an exploration of Elia Kazan’s adapting the revenge tragedy framework of character and conflict in Hamlet to his study of corruption and redemption in “On the Waterfront.”

The undergraduate conference is highly competitive, and Paige’s paper was selected for presentation along with the work of students from Clark, Holy, Cross, Fitchburg State, and Assumption, as well as from across New England (Bentley University; UMass Boston, Dartmouth, and Amherst; Boston University; University of New Hampshire; and Bridgewater State) and as far away as Kenyon College and Ohio State University.
