The Worcester State University Student Government Association’s 24th Annual “Have a Heart” Auction raised more than $28,000. For over two decades, along with the generous support of community members, the SGA’s auction has raised over $313,000 to assist those in need.
This year’s amount exceeded the SGA’s original goal of $24,000, which represented $1,000 for each year WSU has held the fundraiser. Bidders had a variety of items to choose from, including Red Sox tickets, gift baskets, electronics, gift certificates, and WSU apparel.
The auction supports three local organizations: Abby’s House, which focuses on providing shelter, housing, and advocacy for homeless and abused women and their children; The Mustard Seed Foundation of Worcester, which offers food and an emergency service for many of the area’s homeless and in-need children, families, and elderly; and Sherry’s House, which provides a place for children and their families to come and receive the emotional, financial, and other support and encouragement they need to fight childhood cancer.
