The Worcester State University women’s basketball team hosted more than 600 local students at a “Math Madness” event at their basketball game on Wednesday, January 5 vs. Western New England College.
The event was designed to offer the students an opportunity to work on math skills while enjoying a college basketball game.
The Worcester State University Athletics, Math and Education Departments coordinated the event.
Prior to the game, all students received a grade-appropriate math packet with questions pertaining to the women’s basketball game. Students answered questions on scores, court dimensions, player statistics, and other math equations.
The students from May Street School, Chandler Magnet School and Forest Grove Middle School joined their teachers and principals at the event. They also had the opportunity to meet players from both teams following the game.
