In an exciting new partnership, Worcester State University has established an agreement that allows select undergraduate students to seamlessly transition into graduate programs at Ulster University in Northern Ireland.
The agreement covers five areas of study at Worcester State: English, history, political science, sociology, and urban studies. Qualifying students can apply to pursue one of three master of laws (LLM) degrees or a master of science (MSc) at Ulster University.
The LLM degrees are Access to Justice, Gender and Human Rights, and Human Rights Law and Transitional Justice. The MSc degree is Peace and Conflict Studies, which Ulster University is uniquely positioned to offer, because the region’s history of conflict and ongoing efforts to achieve a peaceful and inclusive society provide a rich context for research, teaching, and practice in the field.
“This is a great opportunity for our students to gain an internationally recognized graduate degree,” said Russ Pottle, dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Worcester State. “The ability to study abroad at a prestigious university like Ulster is an invaluable experience that will enhance their academic and professional qualifications and open life opportunities in unexpected and rewarding ways.”
To be eligible, Worcester State students must maintain a 3.0 GPA by the end of their junior year and complete at least 90 credits. Those accepted will receive a £2,200 (currently about $2,929 USD) scholarship from Ulster University, in addition to being able to apply for federal student loans.
Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of Global Partnerships at Ulster University Christopher Wigginton said his institution is delighted to partner with Worcester State to provide high-achieving WSU students a pathway to graduate law degrees at UU.
“As part of Ulster University’s People, Place, and Partnership strategy, this collaboration opens up new global opportunities for students from both institutions to gain international exposure and expertise,” Wigginton said. “We are delighted to partner with Worcester State University to provide their high-achieving students a pathway to our renowned graduate programs.”
