June 27, 2014
By: Worcester State University News

In July, the Worcester State University Police became the 10th campus law enforcement department in Massachusetts to be certified by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.

A team of ranking command officers with the MPAC conducted an intensive assessment of the Worcester State University police force. To achieve this recognition, the department demonstrated compliance with over 159 national standards and “best practices” through department policies and procedures.

According to WSU Police Chief Michael Nockunas, achieving certification from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission is considered a very significant accomplishment and is a recognition that is highly regarded by the law enforcement community.
