On July 16, 2011, Julie Frechette (Communication), her husband Darryll, and their youngest son Connor, represented WSU in honor of Candace Allen Scola by raising funds and running the 4th annual 5k “Nicole’s Run.”
Nicole’s Run is a charity that benefits Caring Unlimited, York County’s Domestic Violence Support Services. While on vacation, Frechette and her family had been moved by the story of Nicole Oliver, who was killed by her husband in July 2007. They had an opportunity to meet Nicole’s grandmother and relay their support for the cause.
Together, runners and walkers, sponsors and donors raised $20,000 to benefit women, children and men in York County, Maine whose lives are affected by domestic abuse and violence.
