Donors met a challenge by longtime, generous supporters Gene and Julianne DeFeudis, who offered to match every dollar donated to the Worcester State Student Emergency Fund, up to $25,000. As a result of the successful challenge, $88,000 has been raised to help students with financial hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Worcester State Student Emergency Fund, established in 2014, helps students weather unexpected financial challenges so they can stay in school and complete their education.

To date, more than 83 students have received funding after submitting a request for support through the online application form. A Student Emergency Fund Committee, chaired by Dean of Student Affairs Julie Kazarian and composed of staff from financial aid, student affairs, and university advancement, has already approved more than $48,000 in grants to students.

Fundraising continues as the financial uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic continue. For more information or to make a donation, visit: https://alumni.worcester.edu/se.
