A veritable mountain of toys was collected recently by Planting the Seed Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless children and their families in Worcester and surrounding towns. The photo shows the amassed contributions at the foundation’s Holiday Party and Toy Drive event at Worcester Fitness, 404 Grove St., Worcester, Dec. 13.
Patrick Hare, staff assistant in the WSU President’s office, who also is president of Planting the Seed Foundation, collected toys from WSU faculty and staff, with a big assist from a toy drive conducted by WSU Lt. Mike Vigeant and the university police.
Planting the Seed was founded 46 years ago by three Worcester State students working out of a dorm room and has since grown into a community-wide holiday tradition. This year, more toys were collected than ever before, Hare says.
